Mission From Mars

The Global Sisterhood Charity Partnership Story

Over the years, the homeless of Pittsburgh have been served by The Global Sisterhood in multiple ways and Mission From Mars has played a role in connecting us with those in need. Mission from Mars (which is based in Mars, PA outside of Pittsburgh) tries to provide a way for groups, individuals, and families to get involved. Their Sunday lunch ministry feeds over 150 homeless people in Pittsburgh weekly. Through the community, they provide meals in an area and during a time where many do not have access to meals.

The Global Sisterhood and the Next Gen Global Sisterhood have created donation drives. We collected clothing, backpacks, blankets, sleeping bags, tents, socks, underwear, shoes, and blessing/comfort bags for the homeless of Pittsburgh.

One of the most impactful stories that can be heard on Spotlight in Pittsburgh hosted by Mandi Pryor is that of the woman who fell on the ice at 8 months pregnant:

The founder of Mission From Mars contacted The Global Sisterhood when  a new mother was in the hospital… We became the woman’s “sisters” and threw a baby shower for the daughter whom she brought into this world! This is a great example of our #PopUpGiving program… a woman is in need and we pool our resources and help.

Supporting Mission from Mars has been on the hearts of The Global Sisterhood for a long time. We have watched as Christy Pendarvis has dedicated her life to the homeless and needy of Pittsburgh and especially with the women and children. We are proud to help support Mission from Mars.
